Marketplace Management

Marketplace Management

Our primary goal is to create, grow and transform an integrated marketplace across brick and mortar and online retail. We serve the consumer in 190 countries around the world. And it's our relentless focus on the consumer that drives the growth of our brands and businesses. Capturing that growth requires focus and commitment, which starts with a shared vision across our business: to remain the most authentic, connected and distinctive brand. We authenticate the NIKE Brand through sport. The power of sport, and the passion and emotion it generates, allows our global brand to inspire consumers around the world.

A key element of our marketplace development initiatives is our Direct to Consumer (DTC) business. By providing the consumer premium shopping experiences across multiple channels we catalyze additional growth and sharpen operational and merchandising skills, which have made us a better wholesale partner – further expanding the marketplace capacity for our brands.

We work, plan and execute marketplace strategies with a commitment to making it easy for consumers to purchase our products whenever and however they choose to shop across all channels of distribution. This approach takes discipline and a diversified portfolio of businesses. This is how we serve the consumer and grow the marketplace to create capacity that facilitates our growth.

SAFE HARBOR STATEMENT

Statements are based on presentations made during the October 9, 2013 NIKE, Inc. Investor Day Meeting. During the meeting presenters made forward-looking statements based on current expectations and those statements are subject to certain risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially. These risks and uncertainties are detailed in the reports filed with the SEC including forms 8-K, 10-K, and 10-Q.
Presentations may have discussed non-GAAP financial measures, including all references to NIKE Brand category- or product-specific revenues, which were expressed in wholesale equivalents. NIKE Brand wholesale equivalent revenues consist of (1) sales to external wholesale customers and (2) internal sales from our wholesale operations to our Direct to Consumer operations, which are charged at prices comparable to prices charged to external wholesale customers. References to NIKE Brand wholesale equivalent revenues are intended to provide context as to the total size of the market footprint of our NIKE Brand categories and products if we had no Direct to Consumer operations and should not be relied upon as a financial measure of actual results. Participants may also have made references to other non-public financial and statistical information and non-GAAP financial measures. Discussions of non-public financial and statistical information and presentations of comparable GAAP measures and quantitative reconciliations can be found at Nike’s website, http://investors.nikeinc.com.
