Program Inspires Young Athletes To Strive for Relentless
Improvement
BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 2008--Jordan Brand, a division
of Nike, Inc., launched its annual Jordan Training program aimed at
inspiring today's young athletes to dedicate themselves to hard work in
order to achieve personal growth and excellence on the court or field.
Beginning in Oakland, California, the Jordan Training program embarked
on a national summer tour, ending in Los Angeles on August 7. In all,
the program will host complimentary training events in seven markets
around the country to challenge thousands of youth, ages 12-18, to train
hard and turn their athletic weaknesses into strengths.
"Jordan Brand is excited to once again bring Jordan Training to young
athletes around the country. We believe the summer program will inspire
and motivate future generations of basketball stars to emulate the
greatest player ever to play the game and push themselves to set
ambitious goals, develop the right strategies and training programs, and
work hard to achieve those goals," said Cliff Torng, Marketing Director
for Jordan Brand.
The Jordan Training program is inspired by Michael Jordan and his former
trainer Tim Grover's Breakfast Club, a famous training regime created
after the 1989-90 basketball season by Jordan and Grover personally.
Built on Jordan rededicating himself to push beyond his known limits,
Grover and Jordan created a challenging regimen designed to improve the
stamina and endurance required to sustain peak performance throughout
the grueling regular season and lengthy playoffs. The Jordan Training
Program continues in the Breakfast Club tradition to showcase Jordan's
determination and passion to continuously strive to be the best.
"Even today, young basketball players around the world look up to and
strive to play like Michael Jordan. To honor the hard work and
dedication that it took to become the greatest, the Jordan Training
program teaches these kids how to push themselves to the next level in
athleticism just like Michael," said Grover. "The Jordan Training
program will motivate youth to mirror the dedication of their basketball
hero and turn their weaknesses into strengths to reach their athletic
dreams."
Jordan Training will give thousands of young athletes a rare opportunity
to meet and learn from Tim Grover and train alongside some of today's
top professional basketball and Team Jordan athletes. Grover will
conduct the events with a special exercise curriculum focusing on the
SPARQ rating system, which stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction
and Quickness. The curriculum, along with pre-built and other customized
work-outs, will be available free online at www.Jumpman23.com.
